Automatic bacteriological analyzer of cultures of blood and mycobacteria of BacT/ALER T 3D of 120 Comb

The automatic bacteriological analyzer of cultures of blood and mycobacteria of BacT/ALER T 3D of 120 Combo (BioMerieux, the USA) – a series of completely automated high-performance analyzers,  the bacteriological devices using technology of hemocultures for receiving fast and reliable result.

This equipment is intended for fast detection by bacteria and fungemiya in hemocultures and other biological liquids of an organism, and also for detection of mycobacteria.

 BacT/ALER T 3D includes the controlling (managing) modules which are carrying out function of management of operation of the analyzer, and incubatory modules in which incubation of bottles with hemocultures is made. Modules integrate in uniform system which allows to analyze at the same time different quantity of bottles with cultures depending on the number of incubatory modules.

The combined module consisting of the managing block and two incubatory sections on 60 bottles allows to analyze 120 bottles at the same time. Two more incubatory modules on 240 bottles can be attached to the combined module, at the same time such system will be able to analyze 600 bottles at the same time.

To the managing module it can be attached from one to 6 incubatory modules, at the same time the general capacity of system (a possibility of the simultaneous analysis) will be

to make from 240 to 1440 bottles.    

The design of modules allows to carry out incubation of cultures as in the shaker mode at detection of bacteremia and fungemiya in hemocultures and other liquids of an organism, and in the mode of motionless cultivation at research of mycobacteria (at the same time special program algorithms for slowly growing microorganisms are used).

The controlling and combined modules have  displays, sensitive to touch screen touch.

 The BacT/ALERT 3D analyzer uses the software of Select+SelectLink which allows to carry out the general analysis and identification of the grown-up cultures, and also to integrate the analyzer into all-laboratory or is general hospital information system;

 Operation of the analyzer in the Cool-boy mode at which the incubation is carried out at the lowered temperature is possible.

All analyzers of hemocultures which are available now in the market use the BioMerieux technology which was developed for BacT/ALERT 3D. The BioMerieux company has patent law on all types of bottles with hemocultures for all models of bacteriological analyzers which are let out in the world now. 
            BacT/ALERT 3D uses a colorimetric method which cornerstone ability some dyes is to change color at change rn. Such sensor is in the basis of each bottle. Since April, 2001 the new generation of sensors is issued that allows to increase a period of validity of bottles till 12 months.

The studied sample is brought in bottles, and it is located in one of block cells for an incubation and monitoring. Introduction of bottles and in any cell is allowed at any time. The device allows to work with previously incubated bottles.

The microorganisms which are present at a sample during growth on a medium emit carbon dioxide which diffuses via selectively permeable membrane and interacts with a sensor. Change rn during this interaction leads to change of color of a sensor with dark green on yellow. The slightest discoloration is caught by the highly sensitive sensors (measurement is taken each 10 minutes) installed in the basis of each cell with bottles transformed to an electric signal, amplifies and transferred to the computer for the analysis.

The software builds a growth curve and analyzes it by means of several algorithms depending on environment type.

           As samples the whole blood, liquor, and also a phlegm or blood (for mycobacteria) and other biological liquids is used. Simultaneous sampling for the analysis both aerobes, and anaerobe bacterias is recommended.
