Description
Classification of a brick

To destination the brick is classified:
The ordinary brick intends for construction of internal and external walls and assumes their further covering plaster or facing material. Has a rough surface and often possesses low resistance to influence of environment. It is rather inexpensive.
The facing brick has a qualitative external surface, maintains influence of water, a frost and is suitable practically for all external works. Has various color scale of a front surface: from almost white to dark brown, can have various form (angular, rounded off, etc.)
The special brick is intended for special service conditions. For example, shamotny (fire-resistant) is intended for formation of internal walls of furnaces, the fireplaces which are affected by high temperatures; acidproof − for chemical productions; brick (extruded) − for a paving of platforms, for production of steps, hand-rail of window sills, etc.

Classification of a brick by the size:
Unary brick: in length ("lozhok") − 250 mm, in width ("poke") − 120 mm, in height − 65 mm.
One-and-a-half brick: in length − 250 mm, in width − 120 mm, brick height − 88 mm

In one meter of a bricklaying on height about 13 rows of an unary brick, 10 − a one-and-a-half brick and 6,5 − a double brick are placed. Seams (horizontal and vertical) usually do 10 mm.

The brick is divided by hollowness on:
Corpulent − a brick without openings or with technological openings with hollowness no more than 13% and with a density over 1600 kg/m3.
The slot-hole or perforated brick − has hollowness to 45% and density to 1500 kg/m3. The heat-insulating ability of a laying from an effective brick in comparison with corpulent above that allows to reduce thickness of walls. Density of a brick can change ranging from 750 kg/m3 to 1900 kg/m3.

Is divided by structure and technology on:
ceramic brick (the clay brick which passed a full cycle of roasting);
brick of moist pressing (usually clay, seldom peat or earth, last incomplete roasting or only thermal drying), it is impossible to apply in the conditions of the increased humidity (socles, the bases, fences);
the silicate brick − is heavier and stronger than a red brick, but it cannot be applied in the bases because of weak water resistance and in a laying of flues because of its decomposition at high temperature;
acidproof brick;
shamotny brick (from special clay);
the brick − "keramit" (the baked silicon sand).
