In Mexico this plant reaches 8-10 meters in height. Its direct trunk at the basis is thickened and has in the diameter of 1 meter. At a bokarnea narrow lantsetny leaves. In culture the plant does not happen such sizes, and its appearance attracts rather with an originality, than beauty. Despite it, bokarneya unbent (B. recurvata, Nolina recurvata), known earlier under the name of a nolin, enjoys wide popularity at gardeners - it is of interest as a high single plant, undemanding to leaving.

Because of this basis the plant received the name "elephant leg", and because of krone from long remneobrazny leaves - "A horse tail". Bokarney seldom meets in Britain, but it is widespread in the USA where height of some copies reaches a ceiling. Grows slowly, but over time the trunk will reach 2 m in height, and the basis will be inflated as a huge bulb.
