White willow (Salix alba L.) - type-species of deciduous bushes and trees from sort the Willow (Salix) of family Willow (Salicaceae). In the nature it is widespread in Europe (except Far North), in Western Siberia, Asia Minor, Iran. It is naturalized in North America. Grows in flooded areas, on coast of the rivers, reservoirs, ponds, aryk, near roads and housing. There live more than 100 years.
Represents large tree of 25-30 m in height with shirokookrugly, often plakuchy krone. Grows quickly, in the first 10-20 years the gain makes 50-100 cm, after 15 flyings - 20-30 cm, after 20 flyings growth is slowed down. The trunk to 1 m in the diameter, is covered dark gray or almost black, with longitudinal cracks bark. Draws red-brown or olive-green, with the silvery and fluffy ends, fragile in sochleniye, are trimmed. Old escapes naked, not fragile, flexible, brilliant, yellowish-brown. The lower branches often fall to the earth.
