Polyethylene of low density of the High Pressure (LDPE) is applied to production of various films (including thermoshrinkable, hothouse), packages and other products made in the blown way.
Description of polyethylene of low density of a high pressure (LDPE, PVD)
Polyethylene which is received with a high pressure is called polyethylene of a high pressure (Russian-language reduction of PVD) or the low density (English-language reduction of LDPE). Commercially it is received by polymerization of ethylene in the conditions of a high pressure in tubular reactors. Also use reactors with the mixing device and initiators of radical type. The let-out basic brands of polyethylene of a high pressure represent PVD without additives. Besides, industrial LDPE exists in the form of compositions on their basis with stabilizers and other additives in the painted and unpainted look.
Properties
Polyethylene of a high pressure is the light elastic crystallizing material with heat resistance without loading to 60 °C. Various LDPE brands allow cooling in the range from-45 to -120 °C.
Properties of this kind of polymer strongly depend on material density. Its increase leads to increase of rigidity and durability. Also the hardness and chemical firmness increase. It must be kept in mind that at increase in density crash-worthiness decreases at low temperatures, lengthening at a gap, is observed crack resistance, permeability for gases and vapors. PVD tends to cracking at considerable loading. Its sizes do not differ in stability.
Polyethylene of a high pressure possesses good dielectric characteristics. Besides, considerable chemical firmness, except for fats and oils is peculiar to it. LDPE is biologically inert and is easily processed. Differs in the increased resistance to radiation.
